Steven “Steve” Wendell Dunlap, age 58, passed away from a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on May 8th at home surrounded by his wife and children. Steve was stubborn, extremely hardworking, and did we mention stubborn? He was selfless, always quick to lend a helping hand (or power tools), and heckled for sport. He never ever complained, was a jack-of-all-trades, and master Macgyver. Steve was someone you were always glad to have in your corner. Steve lived the last 20 happiest years of his life in Canal Winchester, Ohio alongside his best friend and devoted wife, Bekki. He was a great son, a proud father, and a doting Pap to three “little heathens”. He spent his weekdays “playing trains” as the Trainmaster of a short-line railroad and spent many happy hours at home sitting in his beloved chair reading John Grisham novels. He relished his weekly golf game with his buddies, had an avid love affair with ice cream, and was known for his signature drink of Black Velvet whiskey and Diet Pepsi. Preceded in death by his father Rowland (Wendall) Dunlap and survived by his mother, Joyce Dunlap; brother, Mike (Gloria) Dunlap; sister, Sue Dunlap; wife, Bekki Bush-dunlap; daughters, Lauren (Anthony) Sciacchitano, Shannon Bush, and Meghann Bush; sons, Tristan (Danielle) Dunlap and Ryan Dunlap. He is also survived in death by his precious grandchildren, Bentley, Stella, and Beckett Phillips; and various nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday, May 12 from 4:30-5:30pm at Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home, 650 W Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110.
