-

Sue Lankford Foody, age 78, loving mother of two and adoring wife to Tom Foody, passed away peacefully Monday, May 16, 2022 surrounded by love and in the home she lived in for over 50 years. She was born on June 18, 1943 in Cawood, Kentucky to the late Lawrence and Alice (Scott) Lankford. As a little girl growing up in Kentucky, Sue was always teaching and learning. She did exceptional in school then went on to Eastern Kentucky University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in education and started her career teaching at Woodcrest Elementary School. At the age of 24, she married on her birthday the love of her life, Tom Foody, and they spent a further 56 years happily married and built a beautiful life together. Sue was a lovely, caring and kind woman, always giving to others and she incorporated that into her motherhood. She always wanted children and took time off of teaching to adopt and raise, with great patience and love, Brooke and Clay. Both are forever grateful for the beautiful home she gave them. Sue returned to teaching influenced by an interest in learning differences. She taught special education at Bexley Schools for over 15 years and was loved and adored by all her young learners, proving to be a wonderful teacher and friend to all her students. Sue was a member of the Childhood League, her Bexley book club and beloved bridge club. Sue cherished spending time spoiling her grandchildren. She had a passion for reading, bridge, politics, and treasured her long walks in Bexley with her dear friend Trish. She always surrounded herself with her friends and family, which is where she felt most comfortable and loved. In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her sisters Nell (Bud) Brock, and Isabelle (Jim) Smith. Survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas James Foody; children, Brooke Foody O’neill and Clayton Patrick (Liz) Foody; and grandchildren, Griffin Thomas O’neill and Nash Patrick O’neill; and lovely nieces and nephews whom she adored. Sue will be greatly missed by all who knew her and often said “things always look better in the morning.” The family would like to thank The Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, The Bexley Heritage House, Hospice of Central Ohio and The James Cancer Hospital; memorial contributions may be made to any of the organizations that helped make Sue’s journey peaceful and comfortable. A private mass will be held for the family. A public Celebration of Life will be held in June and announced at a later date. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.schoedinger.com.
