Francine Marie Clifford, daughter of the late Lillian and Charles Fitzgerald, passed from this life on June 2, 2022. Born February 2, 1934 in Medford, Massachuse­tts, Francine was a 1951 graduate of Matignon High School. She attended the Katharine Gibbs School of Boston, where she acquired skills that would serve her well as a secretary at MIT, the U.N. and later at St. Anthony

Hospital and School Pictures, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. Devoted to her faith, Francine was an active member of the Saint John XXIII Catholic Community of Canal Winchester and was generous with many charitable causes. She enjoyed spending time with the Greencastl­e Homemakers and was a longtime

docent with the Fairfield

Heritage Associatio­n. She was an expert at crochet and was proud of the many ribbons her crafts won at

the Fairfield County Fair.

She also loved words, language, and red geraniums. She will be deeply missed. Francine is survived by her

five children, Christophe­r

(Tawan) Clifford of Centervill­e, Patrick Clifford of Columbus, Charles Clifford (Naira) of Annapolis, MD, Robert (Rachel) Clifford of Galena and Megan Clifford of Columbus. She is also survived by her sisters, Catherine Powell of Westford, MA and Nancy O’herron of Winchester, MA; as well as by her five grandchild­ren, numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly forty years, Commander Timothy C. Clifford, USNR, by her brothers Tom Fitzgerald and Tony Fitzgerald and her sister Rosemary Dugard. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 9 from 4-7pm at DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH. Funeral services will be Friday, June 10 at 10am, Dwayne R.
