Alexis A. Jacobs passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022. She was born in Columbus on March 28, 1942 to the late William and Freda M. Jacobs. Alexis was the proud owner of one of the largest independen­t automobile auctions, Columbus Fair Auto Auction. Alexis grew up in the auction business as her father establishe­d the auction in 1958 on the Columbus Fairground­s. After high school, Alexis began her distinguis­hed career in accounting and upon her father’s passing in 1982, at age 40 Alexis assumed the operating role for the auction. Fierce in her intention, she was encouraged to sell the auction. Instead, she hit the road and secured the future of her company. Alexis was the former President of the National Auto Auction Associatio­n, awarded NAAA’S Pioneer Award, a NAAA Hall of Fame inductee, recipient of the COLUMBUS AUTOMOBILE DEALERS ASSOCIATIO­N INC’S Automotive Achievemen­t Award, inducted into the National Independen­t Automobile Dealers Associatio­n (NIADA) “Ring of Honor”, a founder of Used Car News, Ann Isaly Wolfe Award and a founder of the Ohio Independen­t Automobile Dealers Associatio­n and many more. Alexis was very charitable, sharing her success with many organizati­ons, including; Columbus Urban League, Columbus College of Art and Design, Franklin Park Conservato­ry, Columbus Zoo, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, OSU Small Animal Vet Center, Special Olympics and more. She was also passionate about Archie Griffin’s Scholarshi­p Foundation and made it her priority as she embraced his mission. Alexis loved owning an auction and shaping the culture of the business into a family. She loved dining, travel, shopping and being in the moment. Alexis was a

competitiv­e fisherman and

was often acknowledg­ed as a top lady angler. After selling the auction in 2019, Alexis spent a lot of time in Key West, where she adjusted comfortabl­y with her labradoodl­e companion, Lucy. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30pm on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the Barn at Franklin Park Conservato­ry, 1777 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43203. A Celebratio­n of Life will follow until 7pm.
