Thursday’s recap: Designated hitter Franmil Reyes, on injury rehab from the Cleveland Guardians, homered and had three hits and three RBIS in the Clippers' win. Will Brennan also homered, his first in Triple-a. Reyes is batting .500 in his two rehab starts with the Clippers, and Brennan, who had two hits, is hitting .346. Clippers starter Peyton Battenfiel­d allowed one run on five hits in seven innings. He struck out three and walked one. The Clippers opened the scoring in the first when Nolan Jones singled home Tyler Freeman. The Saints evened the score in the third on an RBI single by Jermaine Palacios. Will Brennan homered in the fourth for a 2-1 Columbus lead. The Clippers scored three runs in the seventh. Trenton Brooks doubled and scored on Will Benson's sacrifice fly. After Freeman walked, Reyes greeted reliever Jake Petricka with a homer to left-center field to make it 5-1. Columbus scored five more times in the eighth. Jones doubled scored on a single by David Fry. Benson later singled in Fry and Brooks. Reyes scored Jose Fermin with a sacrifice fly before Brennan singled home Benson to make it 10-1. Benson had three RBIS and Brooks and Jones had two hits each. Justin Garza and Aaron Pinto each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Wednesday’s recap: Tyler Freeman and David Fry each went 2 for 3 and Aaron Civale had a strong start for the Clippers. Civale, on injury rehab from the Guardians, allowed one unearned run in 4 innings. He gave up two hits, struck out seven and walked one.
