SAVANNAH, GA - Michael “Mike” Allen Gocken, 73 passed away August 26th at his home in Savannah, Georgia, with his wife Sheri Moore by his side. Mike was born May 8, 1949 in Watseka, Illinois to Norman and Verna Gocken (Harries). After graduating Watseka Community High School, Mike enlisted in the Army and served four years in the Vietnam War. After his son was born in Chicago, Mike settled in Columbus with his then wife Jayne (Nickerson) and was a successful entreprene­ur in the plastics brokerage industry. He also successful­ly rehabbed several homes around the German Village area.

Mike later moved to Savannah, Georgia eventually meeting his wife Sheri Moore and establishi­ng a second home in the South. In Savannah he was a member of the local Moose Lodge and enjoyed swimming, exercising and following the Chicago Cubs. Mike was an avid collector of old furniture, light fixtures, and artwork. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Verna and his former wife Jayne (Nickerson). Mike is survived by his son Charlie, daughter in law Georgia (Ruch), grandchild­ren George and Wingate, wife Sheri Moore, sister Marcia, brother in law Jim, and nephews David and Jeff. Mike will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, devotion to his family, and love for his grandkids.
