POWELL - Robert M.S. Farmer Jr. was a husband, father, grandfathe­r, and dear friend. He lost his battle with esophageal cancer on September 26, 2022, with his family at his home. Robert, known to close friends and family as Bob, was born October 13th, 1957, in Lima Ohio. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1976 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administra­tion from The Ohio State University in 1982. He was a proud Buckeye and Kappa Sigma member. Bob was a committed season ticket holder and loyal tailgater rain or shine! Bob pursued a career he loved in custom home building for his own company “RMF Builders Inc.” He was proud to be known as a hands-on builder and passionate about his craft. Bob was involved in the BIA of Central Ohio and built in The Parade of Homes. He built and remodeled homes throughout many neighborho­ods in central Ohio. Bob is survived by his wife of 36 years Cheryl (Plahuta) and his five children, Kendel, Chloe (Shawn), Madison (Desmon), Darby and Robert. He was a proud and devoted father. He was also an amazing grandfathe­r to his only grandchild, Caden. The family dogs, Sable and Bailey also brought Bob great light every day. Bob’s diagnosis of esophageal cancer in 2014 did not slow him down. He and his family remained strong, fighting through treatments and procedures. He was resilient and optimistic and continued with all of the things that brought him joy in life. Throughout his life he followed in the footsteps of his parents with an admiration for arts and travel. Bob served on the board of directors for Art Space Lima. He loved playing hockey with his original 40+ Sunday night guys. Bob enjoyed flying biplanes and was working to pursue his pilot’s license. His favorite place to vacation was the Florida Keys. He loved fast cars and was an avid corvette collector.

Bob was a “go-to” person for many and always ready to lend a helping hand. He was his family and friend’s best coach and cheerleade­r. Bob’s favorite time was family time. He built strong family traditions. He enjoyed cooking for with his family especially hot pot, Sunday brunches and shrimp scampi. He especially enjoyed spending backyard pool days in the summer with his family. Bob’s legacy, memories, traditions, and strong family bonds will be passed down through his family for generation­s to come. Visitation will be held on Saturday October 1st from 1:00-4:00pm at RUTHERFORD FUNERAL HOME AT POWELL, 450 West Olentangy Street, Powell, OH 43065.
