DUBLIN - Elisabeth Sierra Amigo, 90, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Elisabeth was born in Havana, Cuba on September 18, 1932, the oldest daughter of Emilio Sierra and Elisa Peña Sierra. Elisabeth, her parents, and 3 sisters were active members of Iglesia Bautista, a Southern Baptist church in Havana, where the family had been loyal members since 1912. Elisabeth was baptized at the age of 12 and lead a life of service to her faith. She welcomed two sons, Isidro and Emilio, while living in Havana. With political tensions rising throughout Cuba, Elisabeth and her family made the difficult but incredibly brave decision to leave for the United States in 1960. She spent time in Miami, FL before moving to Durham, NC. She welcomed her third son, Roger, and the family moved to Cleveland, OH shortly after. She was a member of both the Calvary Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church in Cleveland for many years, continuing to keep faith at the forefront of her life.

Elisabeth went back to college in 1977, an accomplish­ment in which she took much pride. After completing multiple associate degrees, she worked for the The Daily Legal News Publishing Company in Cleveland for over 17 years. Upon retirement in 1997, Elisabeth’s longtime commitment to the company was celebrated by her closest coworkers, family, and friends. She then moved to Columbus, OH to be closer to her growing family and became a cherished member of both the Grace Brethren Polaris Church and Linworth Baptist Church in 1999. Elisabeth spent the rest of her life surrounded by loved ones, friends, and her congregati­on. She took immense pride in her relationsh­ip with family and was especially touched by the lives of her 3 children, 9 grandchild­ren, and 9 great grandchild­ren.

Preceding Elisabeth in death are her parents and sister, Bethsaida Castillo; and loving friend, Howard Benes.

She is survived by her sisters, Bethania Fernandez and Bethel Lozano; sons, Dr. Isidro Amigo (Deborah), Dr. Emilio Amigo-smith (Doug), and Dr. Roger Amigo (Natasha); her grandchild­ren, Elisa Amigo Slyman (John), Lt. Colonel Braden Amigo (Leigh), Retired Captain Cameron Amigo (Brooke), Ashley Amigo Toothman (John), Austen Amigo, Megan Amigo, Dr. Morgan Amigo, Bronson Amigo, and Brielle Amigo; and her great grandchild­ren, Jaeden Slyman, Eliana Slyman, Grayson Amigo, Alex Amigo, Sloane Amigo, Samuel Amigo, Benjamin Amigo, Theo Toothman, and Layla Amigo.

A Christian funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at the Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell in Powell, OH. Friends and loved ones may call from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Elisabeth will be privately laid to rest at Dublin Cemetery. Condolence­s may be left at: www.rutherford­funeralhom­e.com
