Super 12: Top area wrestlers
This year’s top preseason girls wrestlers:
Ava Ater, Jonathan Alder
Ater, a junior, is coming off a fifthplace finish in the state tournament at 120 pounds. She finished 24-5 after winning her first 22 matches. A technical wrestler who can rack up points with takedowns or end a match with a quick pin, Ater will compete at 125 this season.
Ella Clum, Lancaster
Clum reached state in each of her first three seasons with the Golden Gales. She attends Fisher Catholic but competes with Lancaster because the Irish don’t have a wrestling program. Last season, Clum placed sixth at state at 235. She placed third as a sophomore and fifth as a freshman.
Alicia Coleman, Olentangy Orange
Coleman, a senior, will be looking to qualify for her third state tournament, competing at 135. A year ago, she placed fourth at 140 to finish 29-4.
Kelcey Dew, Delaware Hayes
Dew is focused on capturing her first state championship after finishing third in each of her three appearances. Last year she was 34-5 at 140 with 21 pins.
Kascidy Garren, Olentangy Orange
After an injury-riddled freshman season, Garren showed her potential with the Pioneers last winter as she won a Central-east-southeast district championship at 145 and went on to place fifth at state to finish 26-6. Garren plans to compete at 170 this season.
Lily Grayem, Watterson
Grayem, who went 2-2 at 143 at state as a sophomore, opened last year’s postseason by winning the district championship at 155. Then at state, she pinned her first two opponents before finishing fourth.

Leng went 32-1 as a junior, placing second at 120 after winning the state title at 116 as a sophomore.
