Ohio State wins 3rd straight pistol national title
Ohio State won its third consecutive pistol national championship at the Intercollegiate Pistol Championships in Anniston and Talladega, Alabama.
Katelyn Abeln took first place in the three-event aggregate and air pistol events. Maria Tsarik was the individual winner in the sport pistol and standard pistol.
The Buckeyes swept the top three spots in every team and individual event. First-team All-americans were Abeln, Tsarik, Jackson Leverett, Abbie Leverett and Panagiota Charalampous.
Ohio State’s Sasso takes 2nd in NCAA wrestling
Ohio State’s Sammy Sasso finished second in the NCAA wrestling championships at 149 pounds following a 4-2 loss by decision to No. 1 Yianni Diakomihalis of Cornell in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Sasso, a four-time All-american, finished the 2022-23 season with a 29-4 record. As a team, Ohio State finished fourth, giving coach Tom Ryan his 14th top-10 and ninth top-finish since 200607.
Buckeyes 6th in NCAA women’s swimming
Ohio State finished sixth in the NCAA women’s swimming and diving championships in Knoxville, Tennessee, the highest finish in program history. It is the third straight top-10 finish for the Buckeyes.
