June Burrier

-

DUBLIN - June: beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and faithful believer passed into eternal life early on Tuesday March 28, 2023 – the day of her birth 83 years ago.

Daughter of the late Harry and Genevieve Stewart. Preceded in death by her brother, Harry Stewart. She is survived by her two devoted sons: Brian Burrier (Stacy) and David Burrier (Laurie), her cherished grandchildren, Kyle and Madison, sisters, Barbara Murray and Marsha (Tom) Phillips, niece, Beth (Steve) Spurling and nephew Stewart (Billiejo) Anderson and families.

A 1957 graduate of North High School, she served as a pre-school and latch-key teacher for over 30 years in the Columbus area having obtained a Bachelor of Science from the College of Education from The Ohio State University in 1962. She had wonderful memories of growing up on Lenappe Drive, picnics at the creek in the Overbrook ravine, and monthly lunches with fellow alums of NHS, class of 1957. Her friends gave her a million nicknames; Stu, JB, Duni, Junebug, June Beth to name a few.

She was actively involved with her church and various groups and clubs. Her love of butterflies permeated her conviction and confidence in our Lord. June loved her family, her friends, her home, and her church.

June loved cooking, baking, and trying new recipes. She was known for her lemon cake, taco salad, Stromboli, and macaroni salad for David, Brian, Kyle, and Madison.

She traveled extensively with her sister Barbara and whether they were in Southeastern OH, New England or Europe, Barbara said June always ran into someone she knew. June also traveled with David on many great trips spanning across the country from New England to California.

June created a wonderful tradition called “Sister Day” – one day each year the 3 sisters would visit old family places, reminisce, and just be together. Terrific memories were made.

After decades of active membership at Maize Manor UMC, she decided it was time to worship closer to where she lived. Her brother-in-law, Tom, suggested she try Dublin Community Church. She visited one Sunday and knew she was “home” and officially joined the church as a recent member.

June was quite a spectator sports enthusiast, and she was very knowledgeable about players, coaches, recruits, and statistics. June never missed a game of David and Brian as they grew. Once Kyle and Madison were born the sports tradition continued in the family. June went to all their soccer, basketball, baseball, and football games until they reached high school. When Kyle and Madison were in high school, she never missed a game traveling all over the state. June attended many of Madison’s games while in college traveling to many schools in the Big East Conference. She absolutely loved attending the games of her grandkids and kept her gear in the trunk to be ready for every game.

We already miss her calm, quiet demeanor and her positive words for all. The family will receive friends at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 5980 Perimeter Dr., Dublin, OH on Friday April 7, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, June would request that donations be made to the Special Olympics or ARC Industries of Franklin County to assist people with disabilities.
