Robert Deibel

LANCASTER - Robert A. Deibel, 86 of Lancaster passed away on May 22, 2023. He was born June 11, 1936 to the late Richard and Sally Deibel in Columbus, Ohio. Bob attended St. Mary’s High School and served in the Army. Following his service, he met and fell in love with Corky Lauffer and they were married close to 60 years.

Bob owned and operated Fire Services of Columbus and Deibel Construction for a number of years and retired after 15 years as the Superintendent of Buildings for the Catholic Diocese of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, cards, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with his family. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Corky (Gladys) and his parents, and Corky’s parents Gerald and Lillian Lauffer.

He is survived by his five daughters and their families. Theresa (David) Kistler, Kelley (Tom) Watson, Jeanine (Richard) Smith, Tracy Deibel (Mark Evangelista) and Tammy (Darren) Greschuk. Grandchildren Tiffany (Chuck) Lockard, Nicholas (Abby) Watson, Jonathan (Susannah) Kistler, Jacob (Brittanie) Watson, Ashley Smith, Andrew (Allie) Kistler, Lillian Greschuk, Annabelle Greschuk, and Olivia Greschuk and 15 great-grandchildren. Sisters Dorothy Byrne, Barbara Howiler and Diane Knipp, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank special caregivers Brandi, Lisa, Sue, Lisa, Olivia, special hospice nurse Becky and all the caring staff at FAIRHOPE Hospice.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023 St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sugar Grove with Monsignor James Walter as Celebrant. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery with military honors. Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Sheridan Funeral Home with a vigil service at 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations to FAIRHOPE Hospice, 282 Sells Rd, Lancaster, OH 43130.
