COLUMBUS - Peggy Kaplan, age 85, passed away in Columbus, Ohio on August 2, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Kaplan; father, Robert Hammersmit­h; mother, Dorothy Offenberg and brother, Robert Hammersmit­h. Survived by her children, Bonnie Katz (David) Taylor, Michelle Katz Grey, Teri Katz Mancuso, Tobi Katz Cartmill and Joshua Katz; step-sons, Michael (Iris) Kaplan and Barry Kaplan, brother, Skip (Karen) Yassenoff; grandchild­ren, Jeremiah (Kayla), Courtney, Daniel (fiancé, Rachel), Hailee (Seth), Hannah, Jessica, Nicholas, Mya, Samuel, Nev and Abram; great grandchild­ren, Carter, Gavin, Avery and Jameson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Peggy attended Bexley High School and was an avid fan of the Buckeyes. She was involved with many local Jewish organizati­ons including careers at the Columbus Jewish Historical Society and the Columbus Jewish Foundation. She was a volunteer extraordin­aire at Congregati­on Agudas Achim and Torat Emet where she was beloved and respected by many congregant­s and staff over the past several decades. Peggy was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. Above all, Peggy loved visiting with all her children, grandchild­ren, and great grandchild­ren in Oregon, Georgia, Pennsylvan­ia, Maine and Florida. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Epstein Memorial Chapel, 3232 E. Main St. Interment will follow at New Agudas Achim Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at Congregati­on Torat Emet on Sunday from 6pm to 9pm and on Monday from 6pm to 9pm.
