Norma Lou Foell

-

Norma L. Foell Norma Lou Foell (nee George), born June 20, 1936 in Carroll country, Ohio peacefully passed into eternal life, July 31, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Dick Foell (deceased 1981) and the devoted mother of Joe (Beth Anne) Foell, Phil (Ellen) Foell, and Ruth Ann (Darold) Wilson. Norma cherished her role as grandmother to (13) thirteen children and Great Grandmother to (4) four children, each of them her favorite. She is survived by her loving brother in law Darrell (Sally) Foell and 3 siblings: Linda (Sam) Boyer, David (Sylvia) George, and Sara (Rich) Madson.

Norma was a resident of Dayton, Ohio for 57 years and an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, until 2017, when she moved to Columbus, and joyfully became a member of Advent Lutheran Church. Her life was marked by a servant’s heart helping family, friends, and strangers alike. Norma found joy in participating in Project Blessing, Via de Christo, quilting guilds, knitting with the Knit Wits and enjoyed playing board games (especially Dominos and Mexican Train). She never met a stranger; always embracing people from many nations and all walks of life with love, a huge smile, and a hug. Norma made sure to love you with her talents of knitting hats, bears, and potholders and you always left her home with one of those gifts!

Her given name was Norma Lou, but she would always say she was anything but normal. Later in her life, she was known by many names; she was our special Mom, Sister, Aunt Norma, Mother-in-law, Grandma, and Gigi. All who had the privilege of meeting her will deeply miss that welcoming heart and endless love. But most of all we are blessed and assured in faith that she is having the greatest time in Heaven. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

Following the Celebration of Life service, a pie and ice cream reception will be held in honor of Norma’s favorite desserts. In lieu of flowers, Norma had expressed her wish for donations to be sent to one of her two favorite charities: International Friendships, Inc. (columbus. ifipartners.org/give) or Advent Lutheran Church (adventelc.org/donate).
