SANDUSKY - Robert Anthony Spivey, 80, Sandusky formerly of Cleveland, died, July 16, 2023, in Firelands Health, Sandusky. He was born February 6, 1943 to the late John and Gertrude Spivey in Cleveland, OH. He was the oldest of two children.

Robert attended Cleveland Public Schools, graduating from John Adams High School in 1961. Following his graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force. After his service, he continued his higher education at Ohio State University and worked in a subsidiary program where he assisted students in computer programmin­g.

Robert joined Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Cleveland Ohio. He was active in the church. He assisted in their fundraisin­g with several fashion shows for the youth and adults.

Robert joined the workforce in Cleveland and Columbus Ohio as a member of the Yellow Pages Advertisin­g department. He worked in this capacity for over twenty-five years.

Robert was an active individual. He loved playing golf, bridge, chess and tennis. He was a sports fan, especially The Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers. He also watched any team that played, loved traveling, and riding motorcycle­s. He would travel somewhere in the United States at the drop of a hat. He has traveled to the Bahamas and other places outside of the United States, driving and flying. He continued this until health issues slowed him down. He spent his last years in the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, OH.

Robert leaves to mourn his devoted nephew, Anthony C Mason and niece, Tara Mason of Manvel Texas and great niece and nephews. Cousins in Florida, Cleveland, OH, Columbus OH, and Detroit, MI. A host of friends in Ohio, Michigan and all over the country. “Death has taken Robert from us but death will not remove the memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gail Patricia Spivey Mason.

A memorial service will be held Friday, August 4, 2023, at 11 A.M. in the Ohio Veterans Home, Giffin Chapel, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, Sandusky is handling arrangemen­ts. Condolence­s to toftfunera­lhome.com.
