MICHAEL Richard Lukie

-

- Richard “Dick” Lukie passed away March 15, 2024. He was 92, but young at heart. He made the most of every waking moment, whether it be tinkering with his model trains and planes, his beloved Fiero, or traveling. He was born January 15, 1932 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Michael and Lucille Lukie. He had one sister, Peg, and graduated from Linden Mckinley High School. As a young man, he loved playing sports, working on cars, and drag racing every weekend. In 1958 he met the love of his life, Joann Cochran, whom he remained married to for nearly 46 years, until she passed in 2005. He loved the country life and they settled into a new home in West Jefferson in 1966, where they raised their three children and became well-loved members of the community. They attended Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, where they were members for over forty years. Dick’s home was his pride and joy and remains the Lukie family home to this day. Dick will long be remembered as the best bowling alley mechanic in the tri-state area. He was head mechanic at many large bowling centers around Columbus and could fix anything. Dick is survived by his son, Steve, who shared his love of all things sports; his daughter, Susy, who loved him more than he knew; and his son, Sean, who introduced his dad to the Fiero, which became a favorite hobby and created a bond between a father and son that would last for over thirty years. Dick was the fun and proud grandpa of six grandchildren; Alec, Josh, Zach, Gabriella, Seth and Veronica, and was great grandpa to Hailee. Dick also leaves behind his second wife, Bonnie Perdue, and her family, with whom he had much in common and enjoyed a very happy “second life”. He was loved by so many and will be missed by all.
