The Commercial Appeal - Go Memphis

What Memphis concerts are planned in September?

As the Mid-south continues to deal with the surging delta variant, Shelby County has reintroduced a mask mandate for all indoor events — including concerts (although shows taking place in bars and restaurants allow for mask removal while eating and drinking).

In many cases, artists are requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for entry. Because the situation is fluid and entry rules are changing rapidly, it’s best to check in with each venue closer to the event date for any updates.

Meantime, here are a selection of shows, mostly featuring national touring artists, that are coming to the Memphis area in September.

Orpheum/halloran Centre

The Orpheum will start the month with a

performance by Stefanie Bolton, Keia Johnson, Tonya Dyson and Rolynné as the featured artists for the Women of Soul concert (Sept. 3). Veteran performers Stephanie Mills and Jeffrey Osborne will headline a concert (Sept. 9) as part of the entertainment festivities for 32nd annual southern Heritage Classic. Country duo Brothers Osborne will appear in support of their third album, “Skeletons” (Sept. 10). Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg will bring his “Jukebox” show to the Halloran stage (Sept. 18). Adopted Memphis sons ZZ Top will make their first appearance in the Bluff City since the passing of their bassist Dusty Hill, returning to the Orpheum (Sept. 19).
