A suspect in a Memphis triple shooting near Airways and Interstate 240 Tuesday night has been charged with murder.

Police responded to a home in the 2400 block of Ketchum shortly after 11 p.m., where they found Marvin Cole, 21, dead of a gunshot wound.

Two other men had also been struck by gunfire several times. They were taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis, where they remained in critical condition Thursday, ac- cording to police.

Investigators determined that Cole let the gunman inside the house, and spoke briefly with the suspect before the gunman pulled a pistol and began shooting, according to a police affidavit. The shooter then opened fire on Cole and five other people inside the residence, striking two others before fleeing.

The victims identified their assailant and told investigators the shooting was sparked by a previous fight between Cole and the suspect, according to the affidavit.

Demarco Waters, 23, was arrested. He was charged with first-degree murder, employment of a firearm with intent to commit a dangerous felony, and five counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Bond for Waters had not been set.

Scott Carroll serious injury.

The situation began just after 8 p.m. Thursday when police got a call reporting that a man in a home in the 2300 block of Windy Oaks assaulted the woman there. Police arrived, and the woman was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The man, however, wouldn’t surrender, leading police to bring out tactical teams and negotiators. Police eventually coaxed the man out sometime before 10 p.m., and no shots were fired. Charges are expected to be filed Friday.
