Myriad uses for property registries

- Justin White,

In reference to the A1 story “Mayor pushes property owners’ registry” and the editorial “A chance to move needle on blight,” (April 1) how accessible would the “real property and vacant property registries” be to other interested groups? I can think of three entities who might use this information for the good of the city:

1. The U.S. Census Bureau could use the list to produce more accurate statistics on Memphis, which aids government and allows money to flow to needed areas.

2. Law enforcement would be up-todate and aware of areas susceptible to crime.

3. Nonprofit groups could more easily find and get permission from the owners to work on blighted properties. Their work would curb some of the cost of cleanup.

The vacant properties registry is an attractive idea, especially if well-meaning groups can access it. Fax to: (901) 529- 6445 Mail to: Letters to the Editor, The Commercial Appeal, P.O. In four years he has won one, just one, “big dance” game, and that was against a play-in team.

All this talent and more to come for Josh Pastner to “coach.” Can anyone remember when the Tigers last lost by 22? Almost every year we have been ranked preseason, almost every year we have fallen out after the first months of the regular season under Josh. Yet, Memphis has extended his contract, why?

Sounds like he is getting the “proverbial” pass.
