Former Germantown resident takes national pageant crown
Priyam Bhargava won the Miss India USA pageant held in Edison, N.J. The pageant took place in Royal Albert’s Palace where 23 contestants participated from various states. Winners from the various states were eligible to participate in the Miss India USA pageant. Bhargava, 26, won the Miss India DC/Virginia/Maryland contest and earned her spot to participate in the pageant.
Bhargava also won the Most Beau- tiful Eyes award at the pageant.
Bhargava was born in 1986 in Indore, India. She was a year old when she moved to New York with her parents. She attended pre-school in New York and then she and her family moved to Memphis. She attended Farmington Elementary School, then Houston Middle and Houston High School in Germantown. Bhargava graduated from high school in 2004. She was also part of Houston High School tennis team. She attended Agnes Scott College in Atlanta for her undergraduate degree.
Bhargava went to Spain under the CIEE program where she taught English to Spanish kids for one school year. During this year, she also visited about 25 European countries. Upon her return from Spain, she worked for the city of Atlanta for a year.
In 2010, she joined Indian law school and a year later transferred to George Washington University Law School in Washington where she is currently pursuing her law degree. She expects to graduate in May 2013.
Bhargava will next represent USA and compete in Miss India Worldwide on April 27 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
