FOURTH OF JULY EVENTS
Arlington: The Arlington Chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities' family-friendly Independence Day celebration at HughesCollege Hill Park, from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday. Children's parade at 10 a.m. Cordova: The Cordova Community center's July Fourth event, 9:30 a.m. Thursday at 1017 Sanga Road. A patriotic program will be followed by parade of floats, antique cars, bicycles, walkers and horses. Germantown: Fireworks Extravaganza opens at 5 p.m. Thursday at Municipal Park, fireworks begin at 9:10 p.m. Live music, moon bounces, games, crafts and refreshments. Lakeland: Children's Independence Day Parade on Thursday in Windward Slopes subdivision. Lineup at 9:30 a.m. at 9677 Cutter Lane.
Memphis: Riverfront Development Corp. and WREG-Channel 3's Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular at Mud Island River Park starts 7 p.m. on Thursday (fireworks around 10 p.m.); kid-friendly rides, games, music. Parking will be available at the Mud Island Parking Garage (Front Street and Poplar). Food and drink concessions will be available. Blankets, picnic baskets and lawn chairs are welcome — but no pets, personal fireworks, alcohol or grills will be allowed in the park. Redbirds: Fireworks show accompanied by patriotic music follows Thursday's 6:05 p.m. game at AutoZone Park against the Nashville Sounds.
