A man has been arrested in an attempted sexual assault at a Millington convenience store Tuesday, officials said.

Jose Flores, 20, has been charged with attempted robbery and aggravated kidnapping. He is being held on a $300,000 bond at the Shelby County Jail.

The incident happened about 4 a.m. at the Mapco store at 6379 Navy. A 42-yearold female clerk said Flores forced her into the restroom then eventually fled,.

Using store video, police identified another man who came into the store with the suspect, who reported that Flores’ wallet was at his residence. Police found a phone number in the wallet and called it.

Flores answered, police said, and was told that his wallet had been found. He gave police an address to return the wallet. When officers picked Flores up, they found the clothing he’d worn during the assault, according to the affidavit.
