The busier we are, the more we need to seek God’s help

Q I know you tell people to read their Bibles and pray and all that, but when can I find time? Mornings are always a rush, as I get the children off to school and then hurry off to work (I’m a single mom). Then at night, I’m too tired.

A I certainly understand your problem — and so (I suspect) do most people. Our lives are so busy today that it seems impossible to find time for God. This is especially true for someone in your position; being a single mother is surely one of life’s hardest tasks.

And yet, the busier we are, the more we need God’s encouragement and help. And this is precisely what God wants to give us — and He will, as we let Him speak to us through His Word, the Bible, and as we share our burdens with Him through prayer.

This, after all, is what we need — because the alternative is to go through life without Him, trusting only in our own judgment and drawing only on our own strength. But why do that, when God can help us and guide us, if we’ll only turn to Him?

Ask God to help you find time to be alone with Him every day — even if it’s only a few minutes. Remember, too, that you can turn to Him at any time. Even when you’re talking with someone or in a meeting, you can be praying in your heart, asking God for wisdom. When Christ is first in our lives, He’ll become first in our schedules.
