The walk began Jan. 26 at his parents’ home in Maryville and ended July 6 at the Mississippi River in Memphis. Alexander says in the C-Span program that the walk “affected everything about my political career. I don’t think I would have been elected without it because it gave me a personality, a story that people paid attention to.”
