SCS board eyes bonus for Supt. Hopson
901-529-2372
The Shelby County Schools board will hold a special meeting Tuesday to consider giving Superintendent Dorsey Hopson a bonus.
Hopson makes $269,000 and is eligible for a raise any time certificated employees receive a raise, as long as his performance evaluation rates him at least satisfactory. But the board can also award him a bonus if the employees are not receiving a raise. His contract does not stipulate an amount for that bonus.
The board extended Hopson’s contract in July 2014. It runs through June 30, 2018.
Also on the agenda for the special called meeting are discussions on state test data, released last week, and readiness for the first day of school, which is Aug. 10. The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the district office. The agenda includes time for public comment.
