Recovering Bush gets out again

-

Former President George H.W. Bush is healing well after taking a fall this summer, feeling good enough to go out on his speedboat and even visit a local biker bar with his wife.

Bush, the nation’s oldest living president at 91, is “healing nicely” after he fractured his C2 vertebra, the second one below the skull, in July, said his chief of staff, Jean Becker. Former first lady Barbara Bush is pleased with her husband’s progress, Becker said.

“She is just thrilled that he has recovered the way he has. They’re at the end of this road. It was a scary thing when it happened, and he’s almost back to 100 percent,” Becker said.

After getting his doctor’s green light, Bush has gone on his boat several times when the sea was not too rough. He even had a beer at a biker bar last month. Photos posted on the website of Bentley’s Saloon in Arundel, Maine, showed Bush posing for pictures with his wife.

Gaga relishes ‘Horror’ role

Appearing in the new season of “American Horror Story” was a life boost for Lady Gaga.

The singer raved about her experience on “American Horror Story: Hotel” as she arrived for the star-studded premiere of the FX show on Saturday night. With fiance Taylor Kinney as her date, Lady Gaga said the experience of playing Countess Elizabeth, who runs the Hotel Cortez, made her feel alive.

“It’s been so fun,” said Gaga. “Everybody on this cast has been really open and available to me in a very honest way, so I’m able to be myself in a way I feel like I haven’t been in a really long time, so they are just making me feel so alive.”

Cassidy charged

For mer te en idol David Cassidy of “The Partridge Family” has been ch a rged w it h leaving the scene of an accident and driving with an expired tag after a crash in Florida last month. The Sun Sentinel quotes police as saying that the 65-year-old Cassidy sideswiped a truck and then tried to cover his license plate before driving away with a flat tire. Authorities said witnesses identified Cassidy as the driver in a photo lineup.

Cassidy’s lawyer, Jason Forman, says the police report is riddled with inconsistencies. He says Cassidy gave police his driver’s license and registration before leaving the scene. A hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 27.
