Titans TE Walker is questionable

Amaro may step in vs. Raiders

NASHVILLE — Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker is questionable for Sunday’s game with the Oakland Raiders after being held out of practice Friday with a sore hamstring.

Walker led the Titans last season with 94 receptions, and he had six catches for 83 yards and a touchdown in Tennessee’s 16-15 comeback victory at Detroit last week.

The Titans (1-1) hope Walker might play Sunday with more rest and treatment. Walker said Wednesday he would not miss the game.

“We’ll see how I feel (Saturday) and go from there,” Walker said. “We didn’t want to take any chances and make it worse. We’re just trying to do the best plan to make sure I can play on Sunday.”

Jace Amaro could see a larger role if Walker is unable to play. Amaro, a second-round draft pick in 2014, was claimed off waivers from the Jets earlier this month.

“He was running the plays I usually run,” Walker said after practice Friday, “and I was just trying to make sure that he was doing them right.”

Titans coach Mike Mularkey said Amaro is comfortable with a package of plays and has a “pretty good grasp of the whole offense.”

Wide receiver Kendall Wright and linebacker Derrick Morgan also are questionable with injured left hamstrings, but both practiced Friday.

DEVELOPMENTS

Brissett has thumb injury: New England Patriots rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett tore a ligament in the thumb of his right (throwing) hand in Thursday night’s win over the Houston Texans and will require surgery, according to WEEI radio in Boston.

Brissett passed for 103 yards and ran for 48 and a TD in his first pro start.

Various reports have suggested Brissett’s injury actually isn’t overly serious, but the Pats could still face a dilemma with Tom Brady suspended for one more game.

New England has 10 days before playing Buffalo on Oct. 2. If Brissett isn’t available against the Bills, the Patriots could hope backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is sufficiently recovered from a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder suffered in Week 2 or sign a free agent QB for what would likely be a one-week stay.

Brissett was shown on the sidelines with the training staff having the thumb examined after 325-pound Texans defensive lineman Vince Wilfork landed on him in the third quarter of New England’s 27-0 win.
