Egyptian center prospect still hoping to join Tigers this season

CW30 TO BROADCAST THREE HOME GAMES

WLMT Channel 30 will broadcast three Tigers home games this season, including the team’s Nov. 14 regular-season opener against Texas-Rio Grande Valley at FedExForum, the debut of new Memphis coach Tubby Smith.

CW 30 will also carry the Tigers’ Nov. 30 game against Jackson State and their Dec. 13 meeting with Monmouth, which brings back most of a squad that went 28-8 a season ago and won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season title.

Memphis will play at least 20 of its 28 other regular-season games on national television — one on CBS, four on ESPN/ ESPN2, four on ESPNU, four on ESPNews and seven on CBS Sports Network.

The Tigers will play an eighth game on CBS Sports Network if they make the finals of the Emerald Coast Classic. The Nov. 25-26 tournament in Niceville, Florida, features Memphis and Providence in one semifinal and Virginia and Iowa in the other. The Nov. 26 championsh­ip game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

GOLFING WITH TUBBY SET FOR OCT. 10

The Memphis Rebounders, the basketball program’s official support club, will host the first Tubby Smith Golf Classic on Oct. 10 at Ridgeway Country Club.
