Convincing arguments for Clinton presidency
I want to thank the CA for finally bringing some clarity to the debacle that is this year’s presidential election with your publishing the editorials from our local party chairs (“Hillary Clinton for President,” and “Donald Trump for President”).
Mancini mentioned Trump once in her column and laid out some of Clinton’s achievements and her party’s goals. Mills mentioned Clinton numerous times, including reminding us of some of her disappointments and her family’s wealth (we have yet to see Mr. Trumps income tax returns or even an unbiased assessment of his worth).
In fact he mentions nothing of Trump’s legal difficulties, failure to honor commitments, statement about defaulting on the nations debt in Feb. 2016, lack of respect for the president of our country, and un-American views regarding service to our country, religious tolerance and acceptance of others.
Mills uses about a fourth of his editorial to discuss some problems in the Federal Judiciary without ever noting that his party has failed to hold any hearings in a year or more on any proposed Federal judges, including a top candidate (as described by both parties) for the Supreme Court.
The Republican party has attempted on several occasions to shut down our government, has refused to take responsibility for the financial crisis of 2008 (not all of which was their fault), and allowed our government controlled infrastructure to rot.
The Republican party is showing itself to be nothing but reactionary and criticism driven with nothing to contribute that is constructive.

Successful trip for veterans
After returning from the “2016 Pearl Harbor Trip of Honor,” I want to thank the people who made these 19 veterans proud: Bellevue Baptist Church arranged the bus and driver to and from the airport. The Patriot Riders escorted the bus and also formed an honor guard as they passed through security. The Memphis Airport Authority welcomed the veterans with a celebration, as well as food in the Military Lounge.
I am grateful for the volunteers who escorted these heroes and for the people who stopped the veterans and said, “Thank you for your service to make us free,” as well as for the many Memphians who contributed money to “Forever Young” so that these senior veterans didn’t have to pay for their trip.
Schoolchildren wrote letters and drew pictures for “mail call,” and Diane Hight helped arrange the Trip of Honor.
Everyone made me proud to be from Memphis!
