St. Jude honors pioneering doctor

Research tower renamed ‘Pinkel’

Gravely ill with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, 13-year-old Dwight Tosh had a raging fever and ominous lump on his neck when he was whisked through the doors of what is now St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as patient No.17 at a two-month-old facility his family had scarcely heard of.
