Here’s a look at promotions, hirings and other noteworthy business events in the Memphis area.

» Cristie Upshaw Travis, chief executive officer of the Memphis Business Group on Health, recently was named chair of the board of trustees at Southern College of Optometry. New members of the board are Dr. Stuart J. Thomas, owner of Thomas Eye Center in Athens, Georgia, and Dr. David Cockrell, co-owner of Cockrell Eyecare Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

» Teresa Cooper recently was recently named SRVS director of community living, the agency’s residentia­l services program with 80 homes throughout the community.

» Lehman-Roberts Co. was recognized at the National Asphalt Pavement Associatio­n’s 62nd meeting in Orlando. Chairman Rick Moore received the NAPA Man of the Year award and the company was presented with two 2016 Quality in Constructi­on Awards and the 2016 NAPA Diamond Achievemen­t Commendati­on.

» Kemmons Wilson Insurance Group (announced the addition of three new team members. Preston Gordon is now director of private client relationsh­ips, Bill Saig joined as an account executive and Grant Hubbard as marketing coordinato­r.

» Junior Achievemen­t establishe­d its inaugural Young Profession­als board with the naming of six individual­s to its board of directors. They are Max Rubenstein of Keller-Williams Realty, chair; Jhula Barua of ABB, vice chair of programs; Jonathan Mosley of Innovate Memphis, vice chair of special events; Libby Ellman of Freedom Preparator­y Academy, vice chair of outreach; Megan Richards of Mercer Capital, secretary; and Jennifer Jakob of Ernst & Young, treasurer. The board, made up of young business and community members, will serve the nonprofit in its volunteer and developmen­t efforts.

» Memphis-based regional flatbed trucking company, L & O Trucking promoted Joey C Sichting to executive vice president of sales, marketing and operations.

» AAF Memphis recently presented its 50th annual American Advertisin­g Awards for creative excellence to area local advertisin­g, marketing, graphic design, and media profession­als. Twenty three agencies and organizati­ons were recognized with 82 Gold and 82 Silver ADDY awards, and 12 recipients were recognized with “Best Of” awards. » First Tennessee Bank received multiple awards for outstandin­g service for business banking from Greenwich Associates, which evaluated more than 600 banks as part of its 2016 Greenwich Excellence Awards. The bank won 17 national awards and three regional (South) awards. First Tennessee also earned high grades from customers in the annual Phoenix-Hecht Treasury Management Quality Index for middle market banking.
