- Jennifer Biggs Memphis Commercial Appeal USA TODAY NETWORK TENNESSEE

Hopdoddy Burger Bar is scheduled to open on April 2 at the corner of Cooper and Madison, taking over the former YoLo spot and bringing its popular burgers from Austin to Memphis.

The small Texas chain announced a year ago that it would be coming to town, joining a roster of new burger spots that include Farm Burger, the reopened LBOE, Farm and Fries, a couple of new Sear Shacks and others to come.

Hopdoddy serves high-quality beef ground daily, chicken and sushi grade tuna “burgers”, makes its own buns and also serves french fries, salads, milkshakes and local craft beers such as Wiseacre and Ghost River. There will be a full bar.

Look for the classics like the Buffalo Bill, made from bison, and new items such as the Lil’ Doddy, a single or double burger; the breakfast burger available all day long; and shareable orders of gourmet fries. New milkshakes include s’more, bananas Foster, Oreo cookies and cream and more.

Also look for the roll out new cocktails like a three-whiskey L.I.T. and the Pamplejousse, all made with craft spirits, house-blended liquors and freshly squeezed juices.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar supports local nonprofits and has chosen Soulsville Foundation’s Stax Music Academy as its Memphis beneficiary; $1 of each Goodnight Burger sold will go to the organization.

In addition to Texas, there are Hopdoddy restaurants in Arizona, Colorado, California and Nashville. The first one opened in 2010.
