Education that leads to employment
As a businessman, state senator, and Shelby County commissioner, I’ve built valuable relationships over the years that give me a unique advantage in understanding governance.
My deep passion for this community has been exhibited through my tireless service to the citizenry, and in being a person of honor, integrity and of hard work.
I will make every effort during my tenure to groom millennials for elected and appointed offices while addressing the racial issues of this community with an all-inclusive governing strategy.
I recognize that quality education, economic growth, obtaining a living wage, and fighting crime, particularly managing blight, has to be addressed immediately.
I believe that working to establish and growing small businesses will assist us in providing sound economic growth as well as attracting new and large businesses that will provide quality employment.
Education is a continued major element in this county that should always be a priority. As mayor, I want to develop a plan to ensure that we continue to move in the right direction; funding is one of the biggest challenges with our schools.
I’m proposing an even greater investment in our children from the local employers who may eventually hire them.
I propose more internships and entry level developmental positions made available before our students graduate from high school that will add a tremendous educational value to our system.
"Why do I want to be county Mayor?" I want to see a change where equal opportunities in Shelby County exist for all, despite one's gender, race, religion or age.
I ask each of you to entrust me with your confidence and your vote.
Sidney Chism was a Shelby County commissioner from 2006-2014.
