A fast-food delivery man and a second individual with a lengthy rap sheet were in custody Sunday following a road rage shooting that erupted Saturday night along the busy Madison Avenue commercial district in Midtown.

One man was wounded in the 7:50 p.m. shooting in the street outside the Fuel Cafe, 1761 Madison, two blocks east of the popular Zinnie’s night spot and six blocks west of crowded Overton Square.

Erik Greer, 38, a delivery man for Uber Eats, was charged with reckless endangerment for allegedly shooting Demarcus Menzie, 40.

Police reports indicate Menzie, though wounded, might have been the aggressor in the incident. He is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and violating bail conditions related to a previous domestic violence charge.

According to police, the incident erupted like this:

Greer was traveling east on Madison in a 2006 Mercury Marquis to pick up an order for Uber Eats when a 2015 Nissan Rogue driven by Menzie pulled onto Madison from a side street. The two cars nearly collided. Greer told police that he and Menzie exchanged “glances” before Menzie began pursuing him eastbound on Madison at a high rate of speed. Menzie caught up with Greer at Madison and Auburndale.

“Greer advised Menzie pointed a gun at him at which point Greer advised he ‘feared for his life’ and started firing shots at Menzie,” a police report says.

Menzie later told officers he was traveling eastbound on Madison near Belvedere when Greer pulled up next to him and wanted to get in his lane. Menzie wouldn’t let Greer into his lane, triggering the shooting,

Menzie told police. Menzie was transported to the Regional Medial Center in non-critical condtion.

Investigators found a Taurus 740 .40-caliber handgun in the center turn lane on Madison near Auburndale. They also found two handguns in Greer’s car along with spent shell casings.
