Authoritie­s identify two killed in chain reaction crash on I-40

A man from Kentucky and a woman from Quebec have been identified as the two people killed when a tractor-trailer rear-ended a car on Interstate 40 Saturday and caused a six-vehicle chain-reaction crash, police said.

The fatal crash occurred around 2 p.m. in the left eastbound lane near Tennessee 385 exit, the Tennessee Highway Patrol said.

Authoritie­s said in their report that a tractor-trailer rear-ended a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and caused a chain-reaction crash.

Logan Insko, 28, of Mount Olivet, Kentucky, and Sylvie Corriveau, 45, of Dummondvil­le, Quebec, have been identified as the two people killed in the crash.

Insko was the driver of one of the vehicles that was rear-ended in the chain reaction crash, authoritie­s said. Corriveau was a passenger in one of the six vehicles.

Tractor-trailer driver Joshua G. Richardson, 39, of Jackson, Tenn., was not injured, but the driver that he crashed into, Ryan Tempel, 43, of Cordova, was injured along with his 10-year-old son.

The driver of the third vehicle, Denis Grenier, 57, of Drummondvi­lle, Quebec, was injured and his passenger, Corriveau was killed in the crash.

Drivers Volkan Gedik, 33, of Spring, Texas, and Clarence Williams, 69, of Houston, Texas, were not injured in the crash.

The fiery crash shut down the interstate Saturday for hours. The accident remains under investigat­ion and no charges had been filed as of Tuesday evening.
