Cordova’s curbside mess

Perhaps you’ve heard of Cordova. It’s just a little east of the city. We are having a big problem with our waste management. We’ve had a serious problem for weeks now. There are leaves and limbs that have been sitting around for pickup for more than eight weeks. We had a problem with Inland Waste Solutions on top of this for our regular pickup. The response has been, well, let’s just say, underwhelming from the mayor and his minions. We found out that Michael’s Tree Service is supposed to our savior. Well, I just read an email saying their trucks couldn’t drive in the coves. Do you have any idea how many coves there are around here? The mayor has made many promises to us. Do I need to say how successful that’s been? But don’t worry. We shall remember this when the next election comes. Let’s see, how many people live out here and are experiencing these problems.

Airbb tax can help MATA

Columnist Tonyaa Weathersbee wrote recently about young people having great difficulty getting to work due to the inferior transportation system in Memphis. I propose that the relatively new source of revenue coming from the occupancy tax now being paid by hundreds of Airbnb hosts in Memphis be put towards improving the MATA bus system. This would benefit tourists and locals alike.
