Met says it has evidence Levine abused or harassed 7 people
The Metropolitan Opera said in court documents Friday that it found credible evidence that conductor James Levine engaged in sexually abusive or harassing conduct with seven people that included inappropriate touching and demands for sex acts over a 25year period.
The Met fired Levine as its music director emeritus on March 12, citing evidence of misconduct, but it did not release any details. Levine sued the Met three days later for breach of contract and defamation, which the opera company denies.
The Met filed its reply and counterclaims on Friday in New York Supreme Court in Manhattan.

Nicolas Cage donates $10,000 to fight rare brain cancer
A Mississippi girl who died of brain cancer has inspired her parents and actor Nicolas Cage to help search for a cure.
The Sun Herald of Biloxi reports the parents of 7-year-old Sophia Ann Myers – Josh Myers and Angel Myers McIlrath – announced the formation of the SoSo Strong Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation on Thursday. The announcement also said Cage has donated $10,000 to the nonprofit in honor of Sophia.
Sophia died almost eight months after her diagnosis of diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma. That type of cancer makes those with it unable to walk, talk, see, swallow or hear.
