Every day this city has several major accidents involving death and major injuries. Why? People are driving on Bill Morris Parkway (385) approximat­ely 90 mph nightly, no matter what the time. The driver behind the wheel of his $50,000 SUV or truck does not signal when weaving in and out of traffic. I thought they made vehicles with turn signals now. The motorcycle­s speed by you on 240 about 80-90 mph nightly, but especially on Wednesday night, Bike Night on Beale. You have a majority of people texting on the phone not paying attention to the traffic. MPD cannot be everywhere, they are short staffed. Drive a little more responsibl­y, pay attention, don't drink alcohol and drive and you might make it home in one piece, I want to do the same. Get your head out of your phone, wake up and drive. The text can wait.

I am so saddened by Gov. Bill Haslam’s refusal to do the right thing and veto the sanctuary city ban. We are all, with the exception of Native Americans, immigrants or the ancestors of immigrants. This is what our country was built on, not the hate rhetoric that has been coming from the White House. I am a Christian and as such look to my God as to what I should do and I know this type of hateful action is not what he asks of me.
