On Wednesday, officials broke ground on five houses that will be part of the 2018 VESTA Home Show.

Home builders, business leaders, and state officials gathered to celebrate the 38th annual groundbreaking at the new Piperton Preserve at RusDun Farms Subdivision in Piperton. RusDun Farms Inc. is responsible for the development. “Thank you all very much for placing VESTA in Fayette County,” Fayette County Mayor Skip Taylorsaid during the ceremony.

The VESTA Home Show is one of the largest events hosted by the West Tennessee Home Builders Association. The show began in 1984 and has taken place in various Tennessee communities.

The builders for this year’s homes are The Dave Moore Companies, Inglewood Homes, Eller Construction, East Construction and Andrews Investments, LLC.

The houses — which will include the newest and safest technology, products, and goods — are designed as modern farmhouses, with an average cost of $700,000.

“The VESTA Home Show is a marketing opportunity for builders and the home building industry to introduce new homes, subdivisions and technologies to the public,” said Don Glays, West Tennessee Home Builders Association’s executive director.

VESTA’s first addition to Piperton was in Shaws Creek Reserve in 2014.

“I want to thank the Home Builders Association. This is the second time we’ve had the VESTA in Piperton,” Oakland Mayor Henry Coats said. “Piperton is a thriving community. I’m very proud of it and what we’ve been able to do.”

The VESTA Home Show benefits a charity every year. This year it will benefit the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse.

Glays said the addition of new homes grants employment opportunities.
