Tigers get commitment from JUCO QB Quinn
Memphis received a commitment Wednesday from quarterback Markevion Quinn, who plays at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi. Quinn announced the news on his Twitter profile.
The 6-foot-3 Quinn is a three-star recruit by 247 Sports and also rated the No. 2 dual-threat junior college quarterback in the country. Last season, he threw for 943 yards and six touchdowns, and ran for 879 yards and 17 touchdowns for Pearl River and was an All-State first team selection.
Quinn, who has one more season of eligibility at Pearl River, was a two-sport athlete at Ruleville Central High School in Mississippi in football and track. He threw for 1,923 yards, ran for 798 yards and scored a total of 22 touchdowns in his senior year.
He also had offers from New Mexico, Arkansas Pine-Bluff and Texas-San Antonio.
Memphis already has one quarterback commit in its 2019 class in threestar recruit Sheldon Layman out of Alabama.
Tigers head coach Mike Norvell has
not been shy about mining for players in the junior college ranks. In his past three recruiting classes, he received commitments from players such as Riley Ferguson, Tito Windham, Roger Joseph and mid-year enrollees Antonio Gibson, Keith Brown and Keith Brigham.
