FedEx, St. Jude seen favorably by millennials
FedEx and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are in Fortune’s 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials.
FedEx entered the ranking for the first time, showing up at No. 36.
St. Jude weighed in at No. 89 and has been on the list since it began in 2015.
Fortune’s ranking is based on a survey of more than 398,000 millennial workers who ranked companies on management quality, workplace respect and fairness and opportunities for meaningful work. Consulting firm Great Place to Work did the research.
Millennials — generally identified as under age 35 — are one of the largest generations in history and are a key demographic in the U.S. workforce.
A survey of 1,689 St. Jude employees found 93 percent said their workplace is great. It was previously cited for Best Workplaces in Health Care and Biopharma and 100 Best Companies to Work for 2018.
“St. Jude is special because people have a strong connection to our mission of finding cures and saving children,” said Dana Bottenfield, vice president of human resources. “People know they can make a difference here.”
At FedEx, 836 employees were surveyed and 87 percent said their workplace is great.
“At FedEx, we believe our people are our greatest asset, so we strive to create an environment where all of our team members feel connected, respected, valued and proud,” David J. Bronczek, president and chief operating officer of FedEx Corp., said in a news release.
“This award speaks to the benefits that come with making diversity of thought, experience and background part of the fabric of our company.”
It’s the latest in a string of accolades collected by FedEx for its work environment. Other recent honors include 2018 Best Companies to Work For, World’s Most Admired Companies, Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality and Best Companies for Diversity.
