Five Memphis players were named to the American Athletic Conference Fifth Anniversary Football Team on Monday during Media Day.

Receiver Anthony Miller, linebacker Genard Avery, placekicker Jake Elliott, punter Tom Hornsey and kick returner Tony Pollard were among the 30 players named to the team, which was selected based on voting done by fans, media members and each of the 12 AAC programs.

Memphis tied Temple and Central Florida with the most selections on the team.

Miller set AAC records last year for touchdowns in a season (18) and career (37) before being drafted by the Chicago Bears in April.

Pollard, the two-time defending AAC Special Teams Player of the Year, was one of only two active players selected, the other being Houston All-American defensive lineman Ed Oliver.

Pollard also helped Memphis sweep the entire special teams portion of the team along with Elliott, who holds the conference's career scoring record, and Hornsey, who won the Ray Guy Award in 2013 as the nation's top punter.

Elliott, who was AAC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015, went on to win a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in February while setting three NFL rookie field goal records.

Avery led the AAC in tackles for loss last season (22) and was drafted in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns.
