Memphis football added a commitment Saturday from offensive lineman Brian Thomas of Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.

Thomas, who is 6-foot-4 and weighs 280 pounds, was offered by Memphis on Wednesday and said on Twitter that the Tigers were his favorite school.

He is the 12th member of the Tigers' 2019 recruiting class and according to Rivals, he will sign during the early signing period in December

Thomas was rated a three-star recruit when he graduated from Scotlandville Magnet High School in Baton Rouge, La., in 2017. He was ranked the No. 70 recruit in Louisiana by 247Sports. He initially committed to Texas-San Antonio his senior year before ending up at Hutchinson. Hutchinson was featured as an Jayhawk Conference opponent of Independence Community College in the recent season of "Last Chance U" on Netflix.

Analysis

The Tigers' 2019 class is light on offensive linemen with three-star recruit Jacob Likes of Christian Brothers being the only other lineman in the group. Memphis has recruited the position pretty well the last three years and offensive line coach Ryan Silverfield said this year he has more depth than he's had at Memphis With three seniors among the four returning starters on the offensive line, getting Thomas adds more depth to a group that will need replenishing in 2019.
