Glitz has won out over guns at the North American box office this weekend as the gilded romance “Crazy Rich Asians” took No.1 over Mark Wahlberg’s action-packed “Mile 22.”

Studios on Sunday estimated that “Crazy Rich Asians” took in $25.2 million from 3,384 locations over the weekend. The film starring Constance Wu has banked $34 million since opening Wednesday, far surpassing early industry expectations.

It’s a surefire win for the film distributed by Warner Bros., which cost $30 million to produce.

Warner Bros.’ shark movie “The Meg” fell to second place with $21.2 million in its second weekend. Wahlberg’s R-rated “Mile 22” opened with an estimated $13.6 million.

Oklahoma fans injured in storm at Backstreet Boys concert

At least 14 people were injured and taken to hospitals after trusses collapsed that were holding up the entrance to a resort where the Backstreet Boys were set to begin a concert in Thackersville.

WinStar World Casino and Resort says in a statement posted on Twitter on Saturday that the resort began an evacuation at about 5 p.m. when lightning was within 4 miles of the casino. The company says about 150 patrons did not evacuate and when the storm hit with 80 mph winds, it knocked over trusses and the entrance collapsed on them. Of the 14 people taken to a hospital, two have been released.

WinStar said the concert was postponed to a later date. Band member Kevin Richardson tweeted that the concert had been sold out with about 12,000 fans.
