Memphis man faces murder charge in July shooting
Memphis police have charged Robert Brittman with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Christopher Jordan, who was killed in July on Keen Road in South Memphis. Brittman, 36, has also been charged with attempted first-degree murder and using a firearm during a dangerous felony.
According to the affidavit of complaint, officers responding to a call on Keen shortly after 10 p.m. on July 11 found Jordan, 33, inside his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were also two women in the vehicle, “whose lives were in imminent danger during the shooting,” police said.
The document said witnesses saw Brittman at the Hillview Apartments on Alcy Road during the altercation that led to the shooting.
Witnesses also told police Brittman was the person shooting at Jordan’s vehicle as he turned south on Keen, which was also captured on video surveillance at the intersection.
During this investigation, Helen Carr was charged with false reporting for giving incorrect information to police.
Carr, 32, contacted the police, said she was present when the shooting occurred and gave them a typed statement that said she was in a gold Chevrolet Malibu following a dark blue vehicle and that someone in that vehicle fired the shots at the victim. The vehicle was actually white.
