Report: Wiseman to visit UK, KU, Vandy

James Wiseman, an East High School star and the No. 1 overall player in 247Sports' Composite ranking for the Class of 2019, has scheduled his first three official visits. None of them will be to Memphis.

According to a report by 247Sports' Evan Daniels, Wiseman's first three official visits will be to Kentucky (Sept. 7), Kansas (Sept. 28) and Vanderbilt (Oct. 5), with a possible visit to Florida State still in the works.

Up until this point, it was believed that the recruitment of Wiseman was a two-horse race between Kentucky and the Tigers. Penny Hardaway coached Wiseman at East High School for one season before taking the job at the University of Memphis.

The five-star prospect has already taken an unofficial visit to Memphis and has hosted an in-home visit by the Memphis staff. It is expected that he will wait until the spring to make his decision.

Kamalei Correa's fresh start includes a familiar face.

The linebacker, a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL draft whom the Titans announced they traded for on Tuesday, was teammates with Marcus Mariota at the St. Louis School in Hawaii. The two reunite in Nashville, where Correa will provide depth for the Titans at outside linebacker in the wake of an ankle injury to rookie Harold Landry.

The Titans sent a 2019 sixth-round pick to acquire Correa, ESPN reported.

"It’s pretty crazy, man. It’s kind of full circle," Mariota said. "To play together in high school and now have an opportunity to play together here at this level is something that’s special, and I’m excited to have him. I think he’ll do well for us and hopefully make a difference."

Mariota said he heard the news from a few people back home who texted him.

"I shot (Correa) a text and said, ‘Hey, we’re looking forward to having you. If you need anything, let me know,'" Mariota said.

"St. Louis is a small community. The high school that we went to, they always talk about the brotherhood. Whether you’re four years older, four years younger, it doesn’t matter. If you graduate from that school, it’s such a close community that everybody kind of stays in touch.

"I think everybody’s excited, and again, it’s (a) privilege to have him and have another guy from home."

Correa has mostly been a nonfactor his first two seasons in the league, with four starts and 15 tackles in 2016 and 2017. But the Boise State product is putting together a solid preseason; in the Ravens' preseason opener against Chicago on Aug. 2, he had three sacks, a forced fumble and an interception.

"What a great game, huh? It was just great to see him break out," Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters after the game. "This young man's been killing himself (with) work ethic, attention to detail, very determined. To see it pay off like that, the coach loves to see that."

It's also a reunion for Correa and Titans defensive coordinator Dean Pees. The two overlapped in Baltimore from 2016-17, when Pees was the Ravens defensive coordinator.

Titans coach Mike Vrabel said they were intrigued by Correa for his versatility. "I think what he can do is he’s shown some versatility over the first part of his career," Vrabel said. "He’s played off the ball. He’s played on the ball. He had a really good preseason. What we felt like was that it could give us some depth at both spots. It could help us on fourth down, give us some rush but also be able to spell some of those guys whether it be (Derrick Morgan or Brian Orakpo)."
