Memphis Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival set in Southaven
The inaugural Memphis Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival will take place Saturday at Tanger Outlets in Southaven.
Organized by Food Truck Festivals of America, this family-friendly festival will feature eats from more than 20 food trucks, craft beers and live music.
Food Truck Festivals of America is the largest touring food truck festival company in the United States.
“We merge dozens of great food trucks with dozens of stellar craft beers, and we bring them to savvy foodie and beer communities like Memphis/Southaven,” said Janet Prensky, spokeswoman for Food Truck Festivals of America. “We are avid supporters of the small businesspeople that run the trucks and the small breweries who work tirelessly every day.”
Festivals have been held this year in cities including Panama City Beach, Florida; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Columbia, South Carolina; Cape Cod, Massachusetts; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“We believe in the food truck and craft beer industries, and we create these festivals to allow people to experience dozens of each all in one place,” Prensky said.
The participating food trucks are all from within a two-hour driving radius of the festival site in Southaven. Trucks from Memphis include Memphis Mojo Café, Fresh Gulf Shrimp, 901 Scoop and Moe’s Southwest Grill.
The craft beer selection will be a mix of national and regional beers that Prensky said “you may have heard of but haven’t had a chance to try. For example, Ballast Point from San Diego, Tall Grass from Kansas and Sweetwater Brewing from Atlanta.”
No Memphis-based craft breweries will take part Saturday, but Mighty Miss Brewing from Greenville, Mississippi, will be pouring its beer.
“We believe that Memphis is a market that ‘gets it.’ A savvy consumer who appreciates food trucks and craft beer and enjoys trying new things,” Prensky said. “When we spoke with Tanger Outlets Southaven and there was interest from them in having us create a festival there, we were thrilled. They are a true partner in this effort — not just a venue. We are extremely excited about our Memphis festival and can’t wait to meet everyone.”
