No. 12 Virginia Tech 62, William & Mary 17: Steven Peoples had two first-half touchdown runs and host Virginia Tech made quick work of William & Mary.

Josh Jackson threw for one touchdown and ran for another for the Hokies (2-0), who showed no ill effects after winning 24-3 at Florida State on Monday night.

Jackson went to the bench before halftime with the score 31-1, and backup Ryan Willis led a touchdown drive on his first college series.

The FCS-level Tribe (1-1) were outgained 401-100 in the opening 30 minutes, and 71 of their yards came on a pass from Shon Mitchell to Nick Muse, setting up their lone points in the half.

N.C. State 41, Georgia State 7: Ryan Finley threw two touchdown passes as host North Carolina State routed Georgia State.

Finley was 31 of 38 for 370 yards with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Thayer Thomas and a 1-yard score to Trent Pennix. His yardage total was the secondbest of his career, behind only his 415-yard performanc­e against South Carolina in last year’s opener.

Reggie Gallaspy II had a short scoring run, Brady Bodine (39 yards) and Matthew McKay (2 yards) added late TDs and Christophe­r Dunn kicked two field goals. The Wolfpack (2-0) won their 12th straight home nonconfere­nce game.

South Florida 49, Georgia Tech 38: Blake Barnett threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more to help host South Florida come from behind to beat Georgia Tech.

The Bulls (2-0) rallied from a 10-point, fourth-quarter deficit, drawing within 38-35 on Barnett’s 3-yard TD pass to Terrence Horne and taking the lead for good on Barnett’s 19-yard run with just over five minutes to go.

Wake Forest 51, Towson 20: Greg Dortch returned two punts for touchdowns and caught a scoring pass as host Wake Forest beat FCS Towson.

Dortch returned punts 60 and 70 yards for touchdowns in the second quarter and hauled in an 8-yard touchdown reception. He finished with 310 all-purpose yards – 94 receiving, 85 on kick returns and 131 on punt returns – and became the first Wake Forest player with four consecutiv­e games of at least 200 all-purpose yards.

Boston College 62, Holy Cross 14: AJ Dillon ran for 149 yards and three touchdowns in less than a quarter, and host Boston College beat in-state rival Holy Cross in the schools’ first meeting in 32 years.

Dillon, the Atlantic Coast Conference’s preseason player of the year, carried just six times before BC (2-0) went to its reserves late in the first quarter. Quarterbac­k Anthony Brown completed his only two passes for 53 yards.
