Shelby County Kroger stores launch same-day delivery
Kroger announced Aug. 30 it is launching same-day grocery delivery in several markets throughout the country — including Memphis and Shelby County.
Delivery service in Shelby County — as well as areas such as Nashville, Little Rock and Jackson, Mississippi — began Aug. 30.
The Kroger Co., America’s largest supermarket retailer, partnered with Instacart, the North American leader in online groceries and one of the fastestgrowing companies in e-commerce, to offer same-day delivery to 75 Kroger business markets throughout the United States by late October.
This will make the delivery service available through more than 1,600 stores.
The expansion locally is limited to Memphis-area stores, which includes all Shelby County locations. DeSoto County stores are not included in the Aug. 30’s delivery program roll-out.
“We are redefining the customer experience through Restock Kroger by rapidly accelerating our customer coverage area for seamless shopping, giving our shoppers the choice of stores, delivery, curbside pickup or ship to your door,” said Matt Thompson, Kroger’s digital vice president of ClickList.
Customers can shop for the sameday experience at delivery.kroger.com or their local store’s website.
After signing into their digital account and entering a ZIP code, customers can shop the digital store. Once a
customer completes his or her online shopping experience, the order can be delivered in as little as two hours. Deliveries in Memphis can be scheduled from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Customers earn Kroger fuel rewards on every delivery purchase. Customers ordering through Kroger’s website receive their first delivery free. After the first order, there will be a $11.95 delivery fee for each order. Customers have the option of adding a tip during the payment process.
This service will not require an annual membership fee.
“We believe in convenience and this service offers another convenience opportunity for our customers,” said Teresa Dickerson, Kroger Delta Division corporate affairs manager. “Our customers are busy and we wanted to offer one more opportunity for our shoppers to get what they need for the week for their families.”
