TODAY’S BIBLE VERSE

-

Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor. Proverbs 18:12

Candidates or veterans?

I must admit I was truly scandalized by the millions of dollars spent by some political candidates in recent election campaigns to gain office. I am a member of the West Tennessee Veterans Home committee. For almost 10 years, we have struggled to attain a few million dollars from the local community to build a 5-star rated, 144-bed veterans care home in West Tennessee. Hundreds of seriously sick, injured or aging veterans are in dire need of such a facility at this time. For a 90-year-old veteran and chaplain who spent 19 months in Vietnam and witnessed so much carnage among our very young soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division in 1967-69, I just want to cry — and I did.

Voters vs. billionaires

Billionaires used this Russianrigged election to squeeze $1.5 trillion out of the U.S. Treasury to be paid for out of our Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, and they’re coming back to the trough for another $1.5 trillion soon. They are robbing the folks to pay the Kochs, who control the Republican apparatus. Our fathers fought the Nazis, but this is the biggest threat to our democracy since then. Now is the time for all Americans to come to the aid of our country. Register and vote.
